Adam Levine offered to pay for Christina Grimmie's funeral
Christina Grimmie’s brother, Marcus Grimmie, announced via his facebook page that his sister’s coach on The Voice, Adam Levine, will pay for Christina Grimme’s funeral. Grimme was shot on June 10, 2016, and died the next day.
She had just finished a concert at The Plaza Theatre in Orlando, Florida and was signing autographs when Kevin James Loibl approached her and began shooting. Marcus Grimmie immediately sprang into action and tackled Loibl. After being tackled, Loibl shot and killed himself.
It is not yet known why Loibl decided to kill Christina Grimme. According to USA Today, Orlando Police Chief John Mina said that his department had not found any evidence linking Grimme and her family to Loibl.
The USA Today quoted Mina as saying, “He came here to commit this crime and had plans to travel back to where he came from.” In Loibl’s car, the police found two guns, loads of ammunition and a hunting knife. Grimme was a rising pop star who first gained fame on YouTube.
Following her success on YouTube, Grimme went on to be one of the finalists on The Voice. Laura Worley started a gofundme campaign for Christina Grimme’s family. And in just two days, the campaign raised over $120,000. Christian Grimme’s manager, Brian Teefey , posted a heartfelt message on the gofundme page for the Grimme Family.
The message reads as follows, “All I wanted to do was assist her in achieving her musical dreams while protecting her from the pitfalls associated with the business. I never could have imagined this horrific event being one of the pitfalls needing to be avoided…They [the Grimmie Family] did nothing but love her and support her as family the best they knew how, the only worry I want them to have at this point is that of recovery.”
Several stars took time out to remembered Christina Grimmie. Selena Gomez, Fifth Harmony, Charlie Puth, and Rachel Platten were some of the celebrities who paid tribute to the young singer. Selena Gomez dedicated her song, “Transfiguration,” to Grimmie, while. Normani Kordei of Fifth Harmony said the young singer was “a beautiful soul” and that “she was nothing but nice to us, so humble.”
Christina Grimme was from the state of New Jersey and she had just turned 22 years old on March 12 of this year. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie posted a tweet remembering the New Jersey native, “Very sad to hear of the tragic passing of NJ native Christina Grimmie. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and fans.”
